If you have a longer stay, you can even split your accommodation between two areas to experience different sides of Hoi An.

You can also use bicycles for shorter countryside journeys, while walking is ideal inside the Ancient Town.

Should You Stay in One Area or Split Your Stay?

For a 2-night stay, we'd stay in one place.

Moving hotels takes time, and because Hoi An is compact, there isn't much practical benefit to changing accommodation for such a short visit.

For 4 nights or more, however, splitting your stay can be a fun option if you genuinely want two different experiences.

For Example:

2 nights in the Ancient Town + 2 nights at An Bang Beach

This gives you the best of both worlds - historic Hoi An at night and a slower beach atmosphere afterward.

Or:

2 nights central + 2 nights countryside

This works particularly well if you're interested in local life, cycling and quiet mornings.

You don't need to do this, though.

Because the distances are short, one well-chosen hotel can be enough for most travelers.

If your priority is the beach, we'd choose An Bang.

If your priority is convenience and evening atmosphere, we'd choose the Ancient Town.

And if you're staying four nights or longer, don't be afraid to split your stay.
